This woman and her team can cook! She came out to Navy Beach in Montauk for an annual 3 day retreat I hold for my company, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Nothing short of amazing! Game face on, professional and welcoming. Food for these retreats are a bit dull since its geared towards the health and mind, however Chef Renee, understands flavors it wasn't boring at all.

We really enjoyed having Chef Renee! This was my first time hiring a private chef, from arrival to clean up, you would never know she was in the kitchen, except for the beautiful smell throughout the house. Very attentive and respectful as it was a surprise for my parents 45th anniversary. My parents are foodies and they absolutely enjoyed this gift. She is such a fun chef, easy to work with. The night started off as a surprise Birthday Dinner for my fiancé, at our home, once my fiancé entered the house the look and the smile was very priceless. Chef Blackman greeted my fiancé and said please take the load off and let me be at your service. As the appetizer came out, the presentation was so beautiful. I recently rented a house for my wife's 30th birthday and invited 10 of her friends for a fun filled weekend. We wanted to make the dinner as laid back (and delicious!) as possible so we can focus on other activities. Chef Renee instantly understood what we were going for in a menu and we were all in agreement.
Everything was absolutely wonderful! Chef Renee showed up on time and immediately got to work while we were enjoying wine on the deck. Dinner was served promptly on time and the food was amazing! She took time to explain each dish and answer any question we had. Not a single bite was leftover.
She cleaned up while we were digesting and left the kitchen cleaner then when she arrived!

We have an open kitchen/living area and she was able to create a wonderful meal while keeping the kitchen and prep area clean and neat while we entertained. Chef Renee Blackman is an amazing chef, who gave us an amazing dinner experience.
Initially, Chef Blackman helped us tailor the menu for our dinner, to our preferences. She was very flexible and accommodating to our requests. She was always very timely in responding to any questions - and very helpful. On the night of our dinner, she came with plenty of time to prep and engaged us in friendly conversation - giving my boyfriend and I cooking tips, as she started with food prep. Every dish was delicious, and plated beautifully - and with each dish, everyone was in absolute awe - of how fresh and amazing the food looked. My boyfriend's father has never finished a salad, until the night Chef Blackman prepared him her frisee salad, with poached pear, and candied walnuts. Everything was seamless - and we all had a wonderful evening. We cannot wait to have Chef Renee over again for something else. I only have the absolute best things to say about her, or her food, and of our overall experience of kitchit.

Chef Blackman and her sous chef/server, Michael, were excellent! They were very easy to work with from booking/planning to cooking and all the way through clean-up (which was thorough). They created a memorable and tasty feast for 9 of us and made it seem easy. They were self-sufficient (I needlessly worried that I didn't have enough salad/dessert plates; they brought their own!), very pleasant/accommodating, and highly professional. We opted for the spring menu, which was delicious. If I were to offer any criticisms, the arugula salad was tasty but a bit plain (I would substitute a different salad next time), and Chef served a heaping portion of rice under the delicate sea bass. While I was able to finish the entire rice portion, most of my older guests could not and probably would have preferred a slightly smaller portion. But these are minor quibbles in what was overall a first-rate experience. Thank you, Chef. I have already recommended to other friends, and I look forward to working with you and Michael again!
